Dana Black

Dana is a lifelong resident of Indianapolis and has been an out Lesbian since 1990. She received her B.S. Information Systems from Indiana Wesleyan University and MBA with an Information Technology focus from Southern New Hampshire University. She volunteered for the Minority Engineers Programs of Indianapolis for 7 years; a program designed to mentor and help girls and minority students prepare for post-secondary education in the STEM programs.
After the introduction of HJR-3 and RFRA legislation in 2014, Dana realized change was needed in Indiana and became a candidate for the Indiana House of Representatives; District 88 in 2016. Although the bid for House Rep fell short, Dana continues to work for the citizens of the state by recruiting candidates and engaging with the community on the issues that impact lives. Dana was the closing speaker for Indiana’s Women’s March in January of 2017.
She is the host and content producer of a weekly Internet radio show “Turn Left” and is the co-host of the podcast “Policy with a Purpose.” Currently Dana sits on the Board and is the Vice President of Indiana Stonewall Democrats and in 2017 was appointed the Deputy Chair for Engagement for the Indiana Democrat Party.
