Mary Beth Schneider

Mary Beth Schneider was the political reporter at The Indianapolis Star from 1992 until her decision to leave in 2013 to care for her parents. She recently returned to the Indiana Statehouse as an editor for The Statehouse File, helping Franklin College students learn how to cover state government and politics.

During her career, she covered every session of the Indiana General Assembly since 1991 as well as national political conventions, presidential debates, the caucuses and primaries in Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina and other states and the 2000 presidential recount in Florida.

She also covered a variety of other beats for the newspaper, including police and courts and served as an assistant city editor.

She is a graduate of the University of Illinois. She and her husband Rich have two grown children, both of whom were smart enough not to go into journalism.
