Roni Ford

From secretary to school board. A journey more extraordinary than a perfectly scripted Hollywood movie.
Having a heart to serve, was always in my DNA, so volunteering for the role of pta president at my kids school was a no brainer. Who knew that4yrs later the principle would ask me to become the school office manager/secretary. In that role I began to truly understand my love for children and youth
 Fast forward 8yrs after leaving that role, I run for and is elected to the role school board member of the Pike Township school board.
These position has been a labor of love. Pike is typically noted as a urban achool.with a large minority population. Most of us understand the hidden message in that dialogue., urban means substandard.  As a board member my singular mission has been to market the wonderful assets of Pike Township.
Roni currently enjoys a professional career in public health where she works to on state wide projects are policy and evidence based best practices to improve the health of Hoosiers. Past roles include Director of Indiana Acess to Revovery, Director of the Indiana Joint Asthma Coalition.
Roni has spent over three decades as member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc, Indianapolis where she launched the inaugural Del-teens mentoring program for high school girls.  Ms Ford serves as the first African American  board chair of Families First service agency, Vice President of the African American Coalition of Indianpolis,  member of Top Ladies of Distinction Inc. Indianapolis chapter, and a member of the Pike Township GOP.  Ms. Ford is a graduate of United Way Leadership United, Hamilton County Leadership Academy,  and the Richard G. Lugar  Excellence in  Professional Service Series 
Ms. Ford has recieved the following community award. Center forLeadershipDevelopment Minority Acheivers, Human Service Award, Pike Township Above and Beyond Award,  Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Soror of the Year and Pike Township GOP member of the year award.
Roni with her husband Dennis have 3 wonderful children and 2 adorable cats.
In her spare time she enjoys traveling, watching politics and crime shows on TV,  mentoring teen mothers and working at her church in the kids Minstry.
